Tijuana, B.C., 17 de septiembre de 2015.- Esta mañana, el presidente municipal, doctor Jorge Astiazarán Orcí, inauguró la Estación Acelerométrica instalada en el Instituto Tecnológico de Tijuana (ITT) Campus Otay, que tiene el propósito de registrar en tiempo real distintos fenómenos geológicos, lo cual servirá para alertar cualquier movimiento sísmico que ocurra en la ciudad.
Al respecto, el alcalde Jorge Astiazarán felicitó el trabajo del ITT por construir una base que ayude a detectar cambios en las condiciones de la tierra, ya que es una herramienta útil para el municipio en temas de Protección Civil y proyectos de infraestructura.
A su vez, el director de la División de Investigación de Postgrado del ITT, Carlos Huerta López, explicó que en total serán instaladas 10 estaciones en diversos puntos de la ciudad, enlazadas a un sistema de cómputo que generará una base de datos con información sobre cualquier cambio bajo la superficie.
A la presentación del proyecto también asistieron el secretario General de Gobierno, Bernardo Padilla Muñoz; el director de Protección Civil, Juan Carlos Méndez Torres; el regidor presidente de la Comisión de Protección Civil, Guillermo Zavala Camarena, así como autoridades del ITT y de organismos empresariales.
